My First Holy Mass in Canada

Today is special. It’s my first time to hear a holy mass since I arrived in Toronto. I need to attend an in-person Mass because that is how I go to church ever since.

Because of the pandemic, churches were closed in my home country last year. So I attended Holy Masses online.
But it is always a different experience. Hearing a Holy Mass online takes away my focus because I watch it using my mobile phone. It is very tempting to open notifications, answer messages and call, or hit pause.
Attending a Holy Mass in person allows me to focus more on the Word of God, prevents me from checking my phone or talking with someone else, and makes “peace be with you” more realistic.

When my spouse and I found out that St. Bernadette’s Roman Catholic Church is already open and does not need an appointment, we immediately decided to join the Holy Mass at 5 p.m.
We offered our prayer to those who were greatly affected by the tornado in Barrie, Ontario.
We also prayed for our friends, families, and those who departed. When the holy mass was over, we met a few Cebuanos. We exchanged his and hellos, and we went home.
I hope you all had a meaningful Sunday. Stay safe.
Talk to you soon.
P.S.
