A magnitude 8.2 earthquake just hit Perryville, Alaska around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

I immediately remembered the earthquake that rocked Bohol, the Philippines in 2013. That was magnitude 7.2, and it killed 222 people and injured 976, according to the World Health Organization article posted in 2017.
The earthquake that hit Alaska today is much stronger than the one that hit Bohol. I could not imagine the people affected in Alaska at this hour. When the earthquake rocked Bohol in 2013, I was at home with my dog, and I did not know what to do.
I was in the washroom, and the ground was shaking. My mom went out to buy food. My dog was barking at the terrace. I did not know what to grab first or what to do first. I was shocked at the intensity of the quake.
The USGS said the earthquake was among the most powerful earthquakes in the U.S. and Canadian recorded history and the largest since 1965.
I hope the people in Alaska are safe.
Talk to you soon.
